Iam glad to know that the Department of Education, St. Xavier's
College, Ranchi, is going to publish its annual Souvenir "Eduxavier".
The Eduxavier, the very title itself is a thought provoking one that St.
Xavier's engages itself in education fully and that too in a Xaverian way.
A souvenir mirrors the personality of the institution and I believe the
Eduxavier is venturing out colourfully and smartly into the creative
expression and performance of what the education can mean. In other
words it is a display of talent, ability and skill.
The Courses of Education is not only of learning theorem and accumulation
of knowledge to be applied sometime, but is to develop an accomplished
ability in its realm. And that comes through perseverance, sweat and tears.
The Xaverians are daring enough for all that.
The students of the Department of Education are preparing themselves to
be teachers. So then who is a teacher? A teacher is not the one who teaches
things, shows and displays. He/she is to be all in one : an educator, instructor,
trainer, tutor, coach and guide - a complete personality exuding confidence
and strength. Teaching is a noble task highly prized, but not measured in cash
or kind. It is as precious as life itself. Today we need teachers of this trait and
kind in our society and nation. I am confident St. Xavier's moulds such ones.
In an existence of a decade now the Department has proved itself
excellently the proficiency and professionalism.
I congratulate the Principal, faculty and students for their tireless energy
for excellence. I extend my best wishes and blessing to each and all in
the Department.
